Naming rights - is the privilege of having a company/individual name placed on a facility in exchange for compensation. Naming rights provide other avenues for generating additional income. One form is that of providing the named entity with the opportunity to have its name assocated with the facility itself. A second form is enabling the named entity to have its name attached to one or more of the facility events. In both formats, a specified fee or other agreed upon payment s requred from the named entity in return for the oppotunity to have its name affiliated with and to gain exposure through their asoication with the facility or event.(Public Facility Management pg 81)

In 2007 two Dallas area teams will go in different directions concerning naming rights. The Texas Rangers have cancelled their naming rights deal with Ameriquest Mortgage. This was done just in time because Ameriquest is now out of business. The decision was made because the Rangers felt that promoting there brand was worth more than the money they received from Ameriquest.
The Dallas Cowboys will soon annouce a new naming rights deal for their new stadium. This will likely be one of the most expensive naming rights deal signed in professional sports. Stadium naming rights will be new for the Cowboys because their current home(Texas Stadium) is named after the state
