Financing Sport Facilities

Page history last edited by durrell 2 yrs ago

Financing sport facilities have taken many different forms. Some stadiums are done with private money but many are financed through the combination of both public and private monies. Many times controversy surrounds the source of public money because many feel that local goverments should allocate money for other needs and not helping billionaires make more money. The image of the new Cowboys stadium below is being funded with a mixture of both private and public funds. The other image is one of Gillete Stadium which is home of the New England Patriots which was paid by private funds

The file below is the link to the Master agreeemnt of the Cowboys Stadium. The city of Arlington is capped at paying $325 million for the stadium and the team is responsible for any cost overruns.

This artcle points to why forgoing public funds is the ideal solution for financing as is the case of Gillette stadium.
